Career Seminar
As part of the SheSTEM Ghana Initiative, we organize STEM Career Seminars to expose female Senior High School (SHS) students to practical career pathways in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The seminars are designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world STEM careers by connecting students directly with female professionals working across diverse STEM fields.
Each seminar creates a safe and interactive space where students engage with role models, learn about course choices and career options beyond the traditional paths (medicine, pharmacy, and engineering), and receive honest guidance on navigating challenges in STEM education and professions. Sessions combine career storytelling, practical advice, and motivational discussions aimed at building confidence and sustaining interest in STEM subjects beyond senior high school.
So far, we have successfully delivered two STEM Career Seminars:
- St. Mary’s Senior High School, Accra, for female SHS science students in the Greater Accra Region, and
- Fijai Senior High School, Sekondi-Takoradi, for female SHS science students in the Greater Accra Region.
These seminars form a core pillar of the SheSTEM Ghana Initiative’s broader effort to promote gender equality in STEM, strengthen career awareness, and support young girls to make informed decisions about their education and future careers. We are actively seeking funding and strategic partnerships to scale these seminars to additional schools and regions nationwide.
